“BECKY! We need to go to Walmart and get eggs!” I screamed as Becky’s voice came over the phone. I could almost hear her wince on the other end of the phone. I was so excited for Spring Break that I could almost run a thousand laps.
“Yes, I know. But when are we going to hang out?” She asked, sounding sort of tired. After all, it was almost midnight. She must have thought that I was crazy for calling her so late about something as weird as getting eggs at Walmart.
“Well, I don’t know yet. Watching Jurassic Park the other day inspired me to bring dinosaurs back into the world. Wouldn’t that be so much fun?”
“Yeah it would be. What kind would you want to make?”
“I don’t know! We could make triceratops, tyrannosaurus rex, velociraptors, or brontosaurus’s! I’m so excited!”
“Leah, can we talk about this tomorrow? It’s midnight and yes, it is exciting, but I’m really tired. So, can we please talk tomorrow?” She sounded about ready to pass out.
“Sure Becky. I’ll talk to you tomorrow!” I was practically screaming, I was so excited. I got into bed and tried to fall asleep, finally falling asleep two hours later.
I woke up the next day and immediately called Becky. It was about eight o’clock in the morning and I called without thinking first.
“Hi Becky! I called you! Want to go to Walmart today and get the eggs?”
Becky groaned. She was probably just getting out of bed.
“Sure, why not?” She said. “I’ll be at your house at ten.”
“Okay! See you then!” I hung up and got ready. My mom watched me, wondering why I could possibly be so excited. Usually I’m not excited for breaks from school, but for some weird reason, I was. I screamed, “BECKY AND I ARE GOING TO WALMART!” and ran outside. Becky got to my house and we immediately walked to Walmart.
“Do you have money, Becky?” I looked at her, suddenly realizing that I didn’t have money and that we would have to commit a crime if she didn’t.
“No, do you have money?” She looked at me, looking sort of scared.
“We have to steal them! Well, I know someone who works at Walmart, so I’m sure it’ll be okay!” I said cheerfully, bringing my phone out of my pocket and calling Justin.
“Hello?”
“Hi Justin! Is it okay if we steal a carton of eggs from Walmart?”
“Yeah, sure, anything for you.” He replied, sounding happy that I called.
“Aww thanks! Well, then I’m going to go steal eggs from Walmart so I’ll talk to you later!” I said as I hung up right after. Becky and I broke into a run to a run and got to Walmart within minutes. We walked in, took a carton of eggs, and walked out of the store, then ran home. Then we planted dinosaur DNA into the eggs and created a lot of dinosaurs. Every type possible roamed the cage that Becky and I had built out of pretzels and licorice rope drenched in honey. If they tried to escape, they would simply get stuck.
“Dinosaurs are so cool! I love dinosaurs.” Becky said, as we watched our dinosaurs in amazement.
“I know! I love them, too. As long as we can name two of them Brandon and Lance.”
“Sounds great! Those are my two favorite names!” Becky said, with a huge smile on her face.
“Okay, the brontosaurus can be Brandon and the velociraptor can be Lance! But the velociraptor is nice, of course!” We went into their cage and played hide and seek with them.
“Playing with dinosaurs is so much fun. I just wish that we could stay in here forever!” Becky said as she petted Brandon.
“We can. Let’s stay here forever!” I said cheerfully.
“Okay! I’ll tell my mom.” Becky texted her mom, who replied and told us that it was okay if we stayed with our dinosaurs forever.
From then on, we lived with the dinosaurs and all was well. Dinosaurs are the most amazing things to ever walk the earth!
